Emergency Care
Even if it is just an occasional visit to the emergency room, few families raise children to adulthood without having a trip or two to the hospital. If your child is seriously hurt, ill or exhibiting other worrisome symptoms, call 9-1-1 or go immediately to the Emergency Department at Stamford Hospital. We have specially trained emergency medicine physicians on duty at all hours of the day and night who, together with our pediatric hospitalists, provide the specialized care infants and children need.
Infants and children are not small adults. They have a unique physiology; a predictable pattern of growth and development that may affect diagnosis or mean that an illness needs to be interpreted in the context of age; a host of illnesses and injuries they are particularly vulnerable to; and significant psychosocial needs. That's why it is important that doctors caring for young children are highly trained in the practice of pediatric medicine—whether the patient is a newborn, a preschooler having an asthma attack, or a child with a broken leg. Stamford Hospital always has pediatricians in the hospital and instantly available.
In less urgent situations—requiring immediate medical attention but where the illness or injury is not life-threatening—visit our Immediate Care Center (ICC), located at the Tully Health Center . Designed to provide quality care at times when your own physician is not available, the ICC is open 365 days a year. Appointments are never necessary.
Visit the ICC for treatment of: flu and cold symptoms; sprains, strains, cuts and bruises; sore throats, rashes, earaches, and other minor illnesses.
